Nature Masterclasses "Scientific Writing and Publishing"

TUM researchers can now improve their scientific writing and publishing skills with the Nature Masterclasses online course.

Learn how to publish from Nature Research editors: TUM researchers have now access to the Nature Masterclasses online course in Scientific Writing and Publishing.

The course is taught by editors from the Nature Research journals and covers the entire scientific publishing process – from writing a paper to publication.

Access is available to all TUM researchers and staff members  Note that the course focuses on research within the natural sciences, but includes content and tipps relevant for researchers from all fields and backgrounds. From our experience, the course is particularly useful for PhD students and students who are process of writing their first papers, but certainly also interesting for more advanced researchers who might want to learn more about specific aspects such as Data Management. 

The online courses consists of a series of videos and covers the following parts:

  • Part 1: Writing a Research Paper
  • Part 2: Publishing a Research Paper 
  • Part 3: Writing and Publishing a Review Paper

How to login for the first time

  1. Go to the Nature Masterclasses website https://masterclasses.nature.com, visit the Login page, and select ‘Log in with your institutional credentials
  2. Select "Technical University of Munich"
  3. Log in using your normal institutional login details (TUM ID and Password)
  4. The first time you log in you’ll be asked to verify your email as a final step. Please use your TUM Email address.

Please note:

  • Please do not register on Nature Masterclasses, make sure you use ‘Log in with your institutional credentials’:. If you register with your institutional email, you may experience an error when you log in via our institution.
  • The first time you access the online course, you’ll be asked to enter a few details, such as your name and our institution name. Afterwards, you can access the content of the course "Scientific Writing and Publishing". Please note that the license does not cover "Effective Collaboration in Research".
