TUM Junior Fellows

Since 2007, the Technical University of Munich bestows the title "TUM Junior Fellow" upon those junior researchers who have started their own independent research group financed through third-party funding as a result of a successful application for a highly competitive program such as Emmy Noether Junior Research Groups (DFG), BMBF Junior Research Groups or ERC Starting Grants. According to the program, junior researchers are those who have not been holding a tenure track professorship beforehand.

TUM Junior Fellows are entitled to serve as primary reviewer for their own employees in doctoral procedures, as well as to review Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Diploma theses. Furthermore, research groups leaders whose groups are based at TUM are treated the same as faculty members when it comes to matters of deliberation and opinion-forming measures within the faculty. They are included in the allocation of funds within their faculties, and their projects are regarded as third-party funding for the allocation of funds within their faculties.

The TUM Talent Factory is the central point of contact for TUM Junior Fellows. You can find a complete overview of current and past TUM Junior Fellows on this website.
