European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)

Founded in 2008, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an outstanding EU initiative that stimulates innovation and entrepreneurship across Europe with one simple idea: through diversity comes strength. The initiative brings together leading universities, research laboratories and companies to form dynamic pan-European partnerships. Together, these partnerships, called Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs), develop innovative products and services, create new companies, and educate a new generation of entrepreneurs. Each of these KICs addresses a different social challenge. An overview for all of the KICs you can find on the following EIT website.

TUM is involved in the following EIT KICs:

Financial Sustainability Return (FSR) Mechanism

All KICs have the requirement from EIT to gradually become independent of EIT funding. The EIT requires all KICs to develop internal Financial Sustainability Return (FSR) mechanisms, implemented and enforced at project level.

The involvement of TUM ForTe already at the time of the call for the full proposal for an EIT project is necessary and mandatory!

Please find here guidance on how to deal with the issue of FSR mechanism for the EIT Food, the EIT Health, and the EIT Urban Mobility:
